your thoughts as plain files on your own disk, in a window that can read them back to you. local-first isn't a mode here — it's the only mode.
how it opens
like the browser, notes opens from the mode fan: hold the wordmark, release on apps, pick fink.notes. it runs as its own window so a wall of research and a chat with the assistant never fight over the same screen.
how it stores
notes are files, on your machine, in a folder you can open with anything. no proprietary container, no cloud copy, no “trash” that lives on someone else’s server. if you stop using fink tomorrow, your notes are still just your files.
what's coming
read-aloud is wired in — notes can speak through the same local voice system the assistant uses. end-to-end encrypted sync between your own devices is on the roadmap; when it lands, the keys stay with you, and the release notes will land in the logs first.
